Associate Professor Aziz Çelik works at Kocaeli University, Department of Labour Economics and Industrial Relations, head of industrial relations field. Çelik is also a guest lecturer at İstanbul University, Faculty of Politics.
Çelik graduated from Faculty of Politics, University of Istanbul in 1985, having majored in public administration. He studied for a master degree at Marmara University, Labour Economics and Industrial Department, having a master thesis named the EU Social Policy and Turkey. Çelik has a PhD degree with a thesis named Trade Unionism and Politics in Turkey 1946-1967 at Marmara University Labour Economics and Industrial Relations Department. He became an associated professor in the field of social policy in 2011.
Prior to joining to university Çelik worked for Kristal-Is Trade Union (Glass, Cement and Soil Workers’ Union of Turkey) which belongs to the Confederation of Trade Unions of Turkey (Türk-İş), as a director responsible for training, research and, international relations (1985 to 2009). Çelik was elected a vice president of Turkish Social History Research Foundation (TUSTAV) 2007-2009 and is a member of board of trustees of TUSTAV at present. He has been writing articles on labour issues at daily BirGün and also T24 Internet portal (t24.com.tr) for years.
Çelik has several books and articles regarding labour relations and social policy. Some of them in Turkish as follows: Social Dialogue in the EU and Turkey (co-author with Meryem Koray, 2007) and Trade Unionism and Politics in Turkey (2010), EU Social Policy and Turkey (2014), Social Policy During the AKP Era (Co-editor with Meryem Koray, 2015).
His studies mainly focus on industrial relations, trade unionism, labour history, international and the EU social policy.
