Abdullatif Sener Resim


Associate Professor Abdüllatif Şener, Former State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister. Abdüllatif Şener was born in 1954 in the city of Sivas. In 1977, he graduated from the Faculty of Political Science at Ankara University.  He worked as a public servant in the Ministry of Interior Affairs and the Turkish Employment Agency, and as a tax inspector  in the Ministry of Finance. he recieved his doctorate in 1986 and the title of associate professor in 1990 in  Finance field. Associate Professor Şener served as an academic in Gazi University and in Hacettepe University. Şener also served as a member of parliament between 1991 and 2007, as a Minister of Finance between 1996 and 1997, as a State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister between 2002 and 2007. He chose not to run for member of parliament in 2007 Elections. One year later he resigned from the Justice and Development Party (AKP), of which he was a co-founder. In 2009 he founded the Turkey Party (TP), became its chairman and then closed it down in 2012. Associate Professor Şener wrote the books “Ottoman Tax System in the Tanzimat Reform Era”, “Ottomans Towards its End”, “The Transparency of Ottoman Finances”. He also has a biography written by the journalist Çiğdem Toker entitled “Abdullatif Sener: My name grew with me”. Şener is also know for the numerous academic articles he has written and conferences he has attended.
